Spring Clean Your Wardrobe
Spring is a great time to take stock of your wardrobe.
As well as identifying gaps that need filling, this also means taking care of the pieces you already own. Follow our simple tips for the our wardrobe spring clean, where taking care of the items you own and organising what you have so you can see it all means you’ll get the most out of it.
Fold Cashmere
You’ll already know that cashmere is better folded than hung so it retains its shape. Fold your knitwear into neat stacks to give you that boutique store feel. Group together knits of the same colour for ease when building your outfit. If you want to go really professional invest in a folding board to make all your knitwear fold in a uniform way.
Roll Accessories
Having a designated drawer to store gloves, hats and scarves and make them easy to see try rolling up each item and packing it in vertically to save space and make everything visible.
Store Chunky Winter Accessories In A Storage Bag
Your chunkiest accessories are unlikely to get used until next autumn, so these are best stored in a storage bag. Fold them flat on top of each other and zip into a storage bag to keep moths away.
Organise Socks and Tights
Socks and tights can become messy all too quickly and impossible to find a matching pair when you need one. Keep everything in order by slipping a sectioned tidy into your drawer, then organise into categories.
Create a Care Kit
Wool and cashmere need extra attention to stay looking like new, so it’s worth having a few care essentials close to hand. A cashmere comb, storage bags and some refresher mist are so handy to have to hand along with a steamer, great from getting out any creases but also for refreshing cashmere between wears.
Keep Moths At Bay
It’s heartbreaking when you pull a favourite jumper out of the drawer only to discover it’s been eaten by moths. The best way to prevent this is by storing in one of our storage bags or adding anti-moth sachets or cedar rings to your stacks. Lavender oil helps keep moths at bay and add a calming scent to your clothes.
Refresh, Don't Wash
You shouldn’t need to wash your cashmere every time you wear it, in fact over-washing can damage the delicate fibres. Cut down by using a clothes spray to freshen up pieces instead. If your knits need a thorough wash, we recommend hand washing and using delicate wool and cashmere detergent.
Debobble Knits
There’s no getting away from the fact that wool and cashmere bobble with wear. To stop knits looking shabby, use a good quality cashmere comb to gently remove bobbles without damaging your garment.
